Conceived of and written by Alan Jones, "The Leroy Vinnegar Suite" is a musical dedication to jazz's legendary master of the bass,
"The Mighty Walker",Leroy Vinnegar.

Each of the 9 songs that make up the suite were composed specifically to underline a special aspect of Leroy's music, personality, or influence.

Some songs recall his style of playing the bass, while others look into the future, a future set in motion by Leroy's influence on the composer.

These songs take off from a point inspired by Leroy, but travel to unique and exciting places, destinations we've come to expect from the composing of Alan Jones.

The mission of "The Leroy Vinnegar Suite" Project

The mission of this project is to present to CD buyers and audiences around the world, the quality and character of a man who devoted his life to jazz. And in so doing, created some of it's finest. Because of his love for music, he inspired and influenced countless young musicians who have gone on to become the next generations of "greats".

To illustrate that, although Leroy was best known as the "master of the walking bass", he played and appreciated many diverse styles of music, a fact that is borne out by his hundreds of recordings of jazz, country, electric pop and everything in between.

In short, the mission of "The Leroy Vinnegar Suite" Project is to pay lasting tribute to this remarkable man, and to share his legacy throughout the world.
